Media Alert - Platte River Power Transmission Line Construction Update

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A helicopter will be used to ferry concrete needed for the foundation of the last and southernmost transmission pole of a line being rebuilt by Platte River Power Authority in the Pineridge Natural Area. This activity may occur as early as Tuesday, February 21, 2012, weather and other circumstances permitting.

Platte River and the City of Fort Collins Natural Resources Department are working together to minimize construction impact to the Pineridge Natural Area. A helicopter is being used to avoid potential damage that might be caused if concrete trucks were driven across the natural area to deliver the concrete.

To minimize the lengths of the flights, concrete will be loaded into a bucket carried by the helicopter at a staging point slightly northeast of the junction of W. County Road 38E and S. County Road 23 (S. Centennial Drive).

Updated information about construction activities related to this transmission project can be found on Platte River’s website at www.prpa.org
