Platte River Power Authority uses an Environmental Management System (EMS) to review and improve environmental performance according to the Strategic Plan and the environmental principals it includes. Made up of administrative and technical components, the EMS is a framework that helps Platte River achieve its environmental goals through consistent control of its operations.
The EMS contains five operational elements: internal compliance assessment, employee training, data management, program implementation, and continuous improvement. Specific objectives for each element are included in Platte River’s environmental work plan. Air, water, waste management, spill prevention and control, and countermeasure aspects are assessed periodically to identify deficiencies and opportunities for continuous improvement.
