Lighting With A Twist Receives Award

Successful program gets international recognition

FORT COLLINS, COLO - Lighting With a Twist, the campaign Platte River Power Authority spearheaded in its owner communities last Fall to increase customer purchases of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), has received a Gold Hermes Creative Award for Integrated Marketing Materials as judged by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals.

The international organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production and free-lance professionals. Hermes Creative Awards recognizes outstanding work in the industry while promoting the philanthropic nature of marketing and communication professionals.

Lighting With a Twist materials were developed utilizing information gathered from each municipal utility and participating retailers. Materials included an informational brochure customized for each municipality, banners, printed advertising, point-of-purchase materials, radio advertisement and in-store events, among others.

The more than 200,000 CFLs sold during the Lighting With a Twist campaign will save enough energy to power 450 homes.

The Gold Award is presented to those entries judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm. Approximately 18 percent of the entries received this award. Other utility recipients included Nebraska Public Power District, City of Riverside Public Utilities (Riverside, CA), and Tacoma Public Utilities (Tacoma, WA).
