Health and wellness are important to Platte River and are reflected in our benefits package which includes health, life and accident insurance; two forms of sick leave; access to an on-site fitness center and activities; and 12 paid holidays.

Platte River currently offers two medical plan choices: a high-deductible health plan and a traditional PPO plan. Platte River pays 100% of the employee-only high-deductible health care plan contribution for full-time employees.

Dental plan
The employee may elect and pay for dental coverage for themselves and eligible dependents.

Vision plan
Platte River offers a voluntary vision plan which helps cover the cost of materials (e.g. glasses, contact lenses). The medical insurance covers one routine eye exam annually.

Life and accident insurance for employees
Platte River provides employee basic life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance at no cost to the employee. Individuals may purchase additional supplemental life insurance for themselves and eligible dependents.

Long-term disability (LTD) insurance
Platte River provides LTD at no cost to the employee. The plan pays 66-2/3% of your monthly salary, up to plan maximum, should you become disabled and unable to perform your job duties.

Personal Leave
Personal leave may be used for vacation, personal business, etc. All new employees shall earn a one-time accrual of forty (40) hours of personal leave on their date of hire. In addition, employees shall accrue eighty (80) hours per year for their first five years of employment. After five years of employment, personal leave accruals increase with years of service.

Sick leave
Sick leave may be used for illness, injury, medical appointments, etc. Employees earn sixteen (16) hours on their date of hire and accrue four (4) hours of sick leave per month. In addition to sick leave, employees also receive an annual sick accrual of forty (40) hours the beginning of each year.

Disability sick leave/long-term disability insurance
Platte River provides employees with both disability sick leave and long-term disability income benefits, and pays the full cost of this coverage. In the event you become disabled, disability income benefits are paid at 2/3 the normal rate of pay up to a policy maximum under the terms of the plan.

401(a) plan
Platte River contributes 5% of employee base pay to a 401(a) defined contribution plan. Employees are 100% vested after three years of service. After five years of employment, the Platte River contribution increases based on years of service.

457(b) plan
All employees are immediately eligible to participate in the 457(b) deferred compensation plan. Platte River provides a match up to 3% into your 401(a) plan, for employee contributions into the 457(b) plan.

To assist in planning for retirement, Platte River partners with ICMA-RC to provide retirement education and financial planning seminars.

With management approval, employees are eligible for up to $8,000 per calendar year for tuition reimbursement. The employee must complete the course with a grade of “C” or above to be eligible for reimbursement.

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides confidential guidance resources, support and counseling services to help employees, dependents and household members resolve issues affecting their quality of life. The EAP includes up to five free counseling sessions annually per issue. Platte River pays the full cost of this benefit.
