The Environment

Platte River has a strong background of committed environmental stewardship. The utility operates under a Board-adopted environmental policy and principles. Alternative transportation programs provide options for employees. Renewable energy sources supported by Platte River include the development of new technology. Other Platte River policies include range management and conservation, integrated pest management, site reclamation and fugitive dust control. Currently, Platte River is providing wind-generated electric power to the communities of Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont and Loveland from its wind site in Wyoming. Platte River also manages a herd of American Bison at the Rawhide Energy Station.
